I'm preparing to do my first coyote pedestal and have a question for finishing the back?........I have seen some deer pedestal mounts that the skin is trimmed at the back edge and glued. The hair flowing back past the edge. Then covering the back panel w/buckskin-like material.....will a coyote's fur alow this method to work the same? Thanks

I did a fox pedestal in that way-- buckskin on the back, with small braided rope around the edges. You can see some pictures of it by going to the addresses below.. see how nicely the fur flows over the edge?

AND here is what i do - i route(sp) a slot on the back of the form (where you would normally put the felt) and then tuck the skin in the slot - SLICK!
Terry do you go an inch or so in to make the route? I think that would look good and you would hardly notie because the hair/fur gets so puffed up there. Send me some pics of finished mounts if you can. Thanks joe
Thank you everyone!.............................Amy, you do great work. Thanks again
