First bobcat

Maybe I'm wrong but I seem to remember reading a post a while back that said something about scraping out the footpads on a bobcat and redoing them with clay. Now I actually have a bobcat in the freezer and am trying to read everything I can before starting on it but I can't find that post anywhere in the archives. Did I imagine it? How should I treat the footpads? Also, any additional bobcat tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Remove the fat from the pads.

Yes it needs to come out, you can replace it with critter clay or apoxie sulpt from the inside. I make a small slit on the bottom of the foot around the pad to allow access to the pads and the toes pads.

Rick, Best advise on cats that I can give is to carefully measure, don't try makeing the cat bigger- the job is easier if you mount it an inch shorter than life. Save the body for comparison with the form so you can see where adjustments may be needed. After mounting and drying I shampoo the whole cat and blow dry- makes a nice fluffy cat. Enjoy, Aaron H.
