I use spray tan when mounting. I would like to know the best method for skinning out the ears of a fox. And what method do you use on them the bondo method or something else. I also would like to know what to use on the tail when mounting. When measuring the fox to get the meadurments do you usse the carcus or the body with the fur on.
Any advise would be appreciated.

G Tanner.....I think many guy's will have their "own" way of doing things. You probly need to try different ways.
The way I do it is almost just like I turn a deer ear. I have some small ear openers made out of a clothes pin. Then I use a knife to get close to the edge........sometimes I throw it it the auto tanner and take it out and finish turning the ears (It makes it easier for me) shave, and throw it back in the tanner. It's just what you feel comfortable with and get them all the way to the edge.
As far as ear liners? I have used the bondo method for 10 years, and it works well for me so I don't see changing it now.
For measuring? "I" measure mine before I skin the animal pulling the tape taught, but not over tight.
Again, this is just "My" way of doing it and I am comfortable with it. Different strokes for different folks.
Hope that helps!
i use my deer ear opener, just to ruff open them, maybe 3/8 in. away from the edges, i dont like handleing cannine ears more than i have to because they are prone to slippage, i will split them to the very edges after tanning, i find they open easier and dont slip this way.
i use apoxie sculpt to form my ear shape it takes longer to set up
but u can be more flexable and makes a good thin strong ear, i would recomend taking a carcass measurement for your form, you will find it to be an inch or two smaller than the unskun measurement, this will make mounting it a whole lot more pleasureable. good luck
