I am new to this forum but have been reading posts for a while. Anyway, I was just reading around and I noticed that some people dry preserve and some tan when they are doing taxidermy mounts. I have been brain tanning all of my skins and I was wondering what the advantages and disadvantages are dp and tanning (shemical and brain)? Which method would you guys advise using for mounts? Thanks, WES.

in the parantheses above, "shemical" should be "chemical", thanks.
This question is special made for you so you can start the New Year off correctly.
Whar am I, how do I use the search button, oh whar is da surch button?
Yeppers I brain tann all the deer capes/
OK, here's the short course for you Wes. Click on the "BEGINNERS" icon in the left column and scroll all the way to the bottom of the category to find the archives. Then click "2001" and "SEP". Scroll down that list until you reach 9/6/01 and click on "Wet Tan, Dry Tan, Dry Preservative". It's all in there.
I am flattered that you took time to direct me to that AWESOME post you put up. That helped me indefinitely. Thank you very much George, it answered my question and then some.
Thanks, Wes
WES, WHEN YOU BRAIN TAN, DO YOU EVER TUMBLE YOUR HIDES, THE REASON I ASK IS MY SON BRAIN TANS ALL OF OUR BACK HALVES OF WT DEER CAPES, HE WORKS VERY HARD AT IT, THE SKINS ARE GREAT, BUT HE SAYS HE HAS TO STRETCH AND BREAK THESE HIDES FOR ABOUT 4 HRS AS THEY ARE DRYING,,,IS THERE AN EASIER WAY?
