bear skin

I got in a Bear Today to do a lifesize mount.The hunter and a
Taxidermist skined and i say partly fleshed the skin it still has fat in a lot of places not really thck but still has fat.should i try to reflesh or go ahead and send to a tannery? " this EX taxidermist said this was all he ever did befor sending to tannery.,Thanks for any reply !

When I flesh a bear for a rug, I leave the skin and fat

around 3/8th inch thick or a bit thicker.Bear can easily be fleshed to thin, if you are seeing the hair roots you have already thinned it to much.

Just be sure to have the head up hill when you salt it. so fluids will drain away.
