Smelly

I've mounted a bunch of Coyote's but never had a problem like this,,, I've just finished a shoulder mount and now I have the ole stinky Coyote smell. Before I mounted it I washed the thing 3 times in detergent once in Lysol & water mix, towel dried it and used dry persertive and mounted it. It's completly dry, but stinks like a dirty wet dog. ANYTHING out there that can kill this smell or just give it more time to clear up.

Fix the problem in the first place, coyotes must be chemically degreased, dawn wont do it!

"Chemically degreased"? Must mean carbon tetrachloride, huh? NOT! Dawn will do just fine. Lysol is spitting into the wind as all that hype's been long gone. Next time, wash your hide in one of the commercial soaps listed in the archives. For your last wash, use water and a cap bull of Downey clothes softener. Works wonders with the smell issue and insures that the soap has penetrated the thick hair underneath a late season yodeler.

Tektrol

I like to spray Tektrol on my mounts. You can get it at any farm supply store. It is an antibacterial deodorant spray. It has never left any residue or stuff after drying and it smells pleasant. Also i figure that most odor originates from bacteria, so killing the bacteria will help keep it smelling better.
