You may need a license

Here in Mass you need to have a trapping license to pick up roadkill furbearers....and it needs to be the appropriate season...excuse me, I should say you're SUPPOSED to have a license and it SHOULD be the appropriate season. Another more hunter/trapper freindly state (ie any other state) may allow you to keep it. I would check with Fish and Game or whatever your state calls it. Or you could just take the damn thing...oh wait but that would be illegal, nevermind, can't do that...

here in Texas seems there is a law that states
the more you run over it after its dead the
easier it scoops up with a shovel.LOL

Local Conservation Agent

In Missouri all you have to do is call your local conservation agent and ask him/her for a possession receipt for a roadkill animal. Most of the time they will put you one in the mail.

Colorado Roadkill

In Colorado, if it is in season and you have a license you can keep
it as long as the Division of Wildlife doesn't want it. You can't
keep anything that is considered a trophy animal though like deer,
bear, mountain lion, etc (discourage poaching). Although sometimes they'll let you keep it, but you'll have to go buy a license before they'll let you take it. It is a good idea to arm yourself with the information from the Division of Wildlife before hand because some animals like hawks and eagles you can't even touch! Happy skinning!

Thanks for your help!
