half bear mount

Here is one for you. I have done a few half mounts and never had one come to me like this. This bear is trapper skinned. Is it possible to just cut the skin half way back and pull it onthe form like putting on a shirt or will this not work? If not would you do a dorsal cut or belly cut to put it on the form

It all depends

On the pose of the bear. Most often it is simply easier to dorsal cut them pull the hide over the arms. and sew it up. Trying to save yourself a bit of sewing, is not worth all the struggling you will have to do to get the hide on the form. When you try to give it a tug to get it to go that 1/2 inch it takes to clear the elbow. And a hank of hair comes out. You will wish you sewed it. Just My Opinion

Thanks
