two problems
1) i am working on a coyote that was shot in the front of the body with shotgun - there is so much blood and gunk that i cant see if all of the flesh is gone or not - skin under flesh is discolred too
2) separate problem -having a heck of a time shaving coyote hide w/o making holes in hide - using dakota - have tried e'thing i can think of - change cutting edge angle - guards - HELP/

i never shave a coyote, except the neck and forhead area, where it is thick enough to shave.

Salt the whole skin and then the following day you will be able to reflesh the "gunky" area a lot better. I second the shaving, it is entirely unnecessary on a coyote other than the head. You can't shave something that is already paper thin, and besides what would be the point?

you may wish to salt and rehydrate in a rehydration bath you may be able to put blood eater in it and that may help.
#2: the HOLES. I use a bird flesher on the small mammals and seems to work very nicely. a coyote is thinner than deer by nature and a co-worker told me about using the bird flesher to eliminate making so many holes.
