Coyote slippage?

Submitted by Doug on 02/06/2004. ( ) 64.18.236.145

I bought a green frozen coyote skin for a full body mount. After thawing it out, I see that it has massive discoloration over much of its midsection, and it has a bad smell. I want to send it to my tannery, but am afraid that it might slip and I'd get an unmountable skin back. Do you think I am risking anything by going ahead with my plans? What would you do?

Thats normally not a problem but, I would split everything and turn the ears.

Lay it out open in the freezer once it starts to freeze you can loosly roll it up.

Get some KROWTANN- and it should be fine.

couldn't agree more

Had A coyote in that had lost baseball size patches of fur pretty much everywhere except the cape and it was slipping, I figured it was a lost cause but went ahead and caped it and put it in the Krowtann just to see what would happen and three days later after Tanning, Neutralizing and washing in liquid Tide I can hold the weight of the wet cape by a pinch of fur...No slippage at all.
