- Is anyone familiar with this machine?
Yes.
- Is it adequate for sewing felt borders on black bear rugs?
No. The needle runs horizontally, is super fine, and is for sewing fur. Pelt to pelt or let-out work.
- I need a motor for this machine. Will a standard domestic sewing machine motor work?
Buy a standard industrial machine table and motor. Drill the table according to the holes in the bottom of the machine head. That oughta do it.
Thanks for the info on my machine if it's too light for rug work I'll brobably sell it
The mach will work good for sewing holes, lips.and ears up but the prob. with trying to sew the borders on with it is it is hard to make it lay flat.
Half the time I roll it by hand; so for now maybe pass on the motor.
Ther is a chain coming out the bottom; when pulled on will open the jaws [two roller cups].
this mach. will sew a hole shut and make it almost invisible
