Squirrel Question?

Submitted by Rich on 02/09/2004. ( ) 207.74.23.130

Just got my first squirrel done and I got a little super glue on the acrylic eye. Anything take it off? Windex wouldn't, and I don't want to scratch the eye trying to scrape it off. Laquer thinner or anything work?

Also, it's climbing and I'm looking for a nice wall board to put it on. I want a piece of that WEATHERED BOARD or a flat piece with a SOLID BARK COVERING to hang on the wall. I've seen what I want in many of the supply magazines (with there squirrels mounted on them), but can't find any of the magazines SELLING what I'm looking for. If you can understand all this and can help me out, I would appreciate it! Thanks... -RICH

Well if ya havent painted it yet try pait thiner, and abotu the bark just go out in the timber ( if you can) and look for a dead tree and look around the base usually hase lage pieces of fallen bark perfect for mounting climbing squirrels on.

I order all of my weathered bark from Van Dykes. For squirrels, I use the 1/2 round. I use this for flying gamebirds, waterfowl etc. It makes for a good looking mount.

Thanks

Thanks for the tips guys. About gathering your own bark from the woods, Do you have to preserve it in any way? Do you have to worry about tiny mites and other microscopic creatures in the wood ruining your finished mounts? Thanks Again... -RICH
