borax water solution?

Hi again well i have mounted quite a few squirrels but i always just rub some borax or puffed borax on the flesh side before i mount them. But i was reading in the WASCO catalog and it says that you can mix puffed borax and water together in a solution and just let your skin soak in it over night. Waht does this do? do you still have to rum dry state powder on the skin, or does soaking it in the solution overnight preserve it after mounting. If Any of you do this and have an opinion if it works better that dry state borax please share.

Also I always have the broblem of the boraz getting goopy and ozzing out around the eyes and getting rock hard. I just paint over it but stil is a pain... How do you stop this?

Dawn and borax aren't steps for deer mounting....

borax can be used for absorbing blood.borax is a laundry detergent not a tanning product.Always tann your skins before you mount them.

David, you're a smart guy. Get a punctuation checker, and go get a roadkill and test it out yourself.

David nobody is implying that you are stupid. All I am saying to you is no it does not work it will fall apart sunner or later.
Always tan your skins.Use Bruce Rittels ez 100 and you will not need a fur dresser.your doing all the work for them by fleshing and salting
all they do is rehydrate pickle tan oil tumble. You did the biggest job and you are still working to hard at it.If you are interested in the easiest and safest way call me at (705)476-0483 and I will explain it to you.I do not lose any skins and been doing taxidermy from all over the world for 32 years. I must be tanning my skin properly are I would have a problem by now. you do the math.

Turn and flesh. Rub on sodium sulfate. Roll up for a bit. Rinse and spray on Ben's spray tan. Mount. Works fine.
