Full body Javelina mount

I am new to taxidermy and I am about to try to full body mount a Javelina. I know you may think I am crazy to attempt this, but I think I can do it with a little help from you guys and girls. So here are my questions.

1. When I skin it out, should I skin it like you would for say a squirrel full body, or is there a better way.

2. What do I do when I get to the hoof. Does the mold come with pre-molded hooves? or do I have to skin them out.

I know these are dumb questions, but like I said I am learning and what better way to learn than to ask.

Thanks for your time.

Only, I am a beginner, and am getting ready to mount a lifesize feral sow on an ALTERED javelina form! That is going to be fun! Ive got my death masks, and my foam and carving tools ready! I do know that you must skin out the hooves, and I made a mistake and case skinned my hog, next time I will dorsal skin! I would surely love to hear about your progress!

Christina :)

Christina, You have more skills than I do. I don't think I would attempt to alter a form just yet. I have been looking at several different sites and have had a couple of emails sent to me with some great information. I am going to get my litte porker at the end of April, so that is when the fun will begin.

I did however finish my first duck mount today. I mounted a Ringneck Drake. It turned out pretty good even with the mistakes I made. I have a Mallard Drake and Wood Duck Drake in the freezer that I am going to start on this week. I will keep you posted by email if that is ok.
