River Otter Pelt Prices

My Family has several Pine Plantations and every year we are trying to get more use out of our land. During the Spring and Winter months we drain beaver ponds and trap them during thier repair of the damn. During this we also catch many River Otters. This year alone we've caught 30 Otters and 50 Beavers besides just throwing the animals to the side. We are wondering if there is a market for the pelts of these animals

Just one problem most taxidermist would rather skin them. Many times trappers try to sell skin on here and the detail taxidermist need in skinned animals is missing, eyelids, lips nose etc. cut off, even ears, then if a furbearer is balled up in the freezer it will spoil before freezing.

Have you had them CITES Tagged? They have to be to cross state lines.

Are the whole? or have you skinned them?

What is the price furbuyers are paying for them? Thats fair market value.

Fur prices are up this year, you're throwing away good money....

Beaver - 31.00 - 50.00
Otter - 85.00 - 155.00

These all depend on the grade of the skin, I just sold an otter pelt for $100.00
