skeletons

ok now i want to take a raccoon and skin it out and gut it and somehow deflesh it and then mount the skeleton ok, now can i just stick the carcass in a plastic box and fill it with water and let the bacteria do the work and then how do i assemble the bones together and keep them together thanks god bless

macerate. glue and armature

Macerate the bones with water like you mentioned. Then you need to glue the bones together with some form of adhesive.. you prreference comes into play here. I've seen people use white glue, super glue, epoxy even construction adhesive. Plexus is an epoxy type product - very strong bond and has some flex to it so pieces don't just snap off. Smells very strong tho - use a respirator. Some form of metal armature is generally required. This can be heavy gauge aluminum wire, copper tubing, welded steel (what I use) or even in most beginner pieces, wood.

I believe there are arrticles on the web describing all this. Try various searches in google and you should find one of them complete with photos. I've sort of glanced at them before but as my techniques differ from those persented I didn't bother getting too involved with their website so don't have a link for you.

Also, after macerating, soak in peroxide for a little while and then in the sunshine a few days. Hot glue works great.
