Dilemma

Oh here's the deal. I posted earlier about doing an South American Agouti, I considered carcass casting or carving my own form. Well there lies the problem. There isn't a carcas!? I guess I should have known this considering where it came from. So I've looked up pictures of the little bugger and researched my supply catalogs and I've come up with something close. I'm sure I'll have to alter the form somewhat, which I don't have a problem doing. I'm looking at either a Nutria form or a Muskrat. Both seem to be rodent like, which is what this little Agouti thing apparently is. Since I've never seen an Agouti "on the hoof" I don't have an idea what size they are..Can someone enlighten me? I would like to do the best job on this thing that I can since the guy who bagged it got an award for "Most Unusual Trophy" from the Safari Club International. What are your thoughts on the forms I mentioned?

Agouti

I have attached two URLs that show a sketch and a picture of a Agouti. A nutria form may work, but likely would require modification as there body shape is a little different. I'm pretty sure a muskrat form would be to small, unless it was a small Agouti (based on the average sizes in the following sites).

I freeze dried 1 a while back, the body was long, not fat and round like muskrats and nutria. Head shape was more like a rabbit or hare to me. Eye color is very dark,I think I used black, this is what the person who had me do it said was the color.Same as muskrat and nutria, use black hollow bubble eyes. You may want to look at live ref though, don't take my word on it. This animal was just going to a kids program thing,no need to get it 100%.

If I had the thing here still I would measure it and take a pic,but alas I don't have it anymore.

It did remind me of a big guinea pig though! The long crest hairs on the back were cool too.

Now if anyone needs measurements for a striped possum, squirrel monkey, or prehensile tailed porcupine, let me know, they are still frozen hole!

Thanks for the advice

I guess I'll have to get the little bugger and measure him to see where to go from there !
