Nose, Real or Artificial?

Should I use an artificial nose or a real nose on a wolf mount?
I would like to know which is easier to do in general.
The nose has already been cut off the form, because I had to alter the angle of the muzzle. I saved it though.
So in your opinion, which would be easier for me?

Repro-nose has advantages...

....and those are that there will be no shrinkage to contend with, good detail will already be molded in,however if you dont marry the edge of the real nose to the repro so the joint will not be noticed, you might have been better off with the real one. I guess it all boils down to your ability to pull off the job in a credulous way.I would recommend using some of the real nose and some of the repro so the seam will not be where one would expect it to be. A bit of careful Dremel grinding and trimming of the real nose to fit on the repro will accomplish this. Good luck....JL

I cut the noses off my form and use clay to rebuild them. I think it has a much better look to it and more life like .

repro nose

I almost always use repros on wolves...usually the skin job from up north is not the most desireable to begin with...the nose is usually rock solid and takes tons of work to complete thinning for the mounting process..Just my opinion
