Do you put clay in rug feet or just leave them as is?
Clay seems too heavy but without it seems too delicate.

You dont need anything in the rug feet.

Thats part of stretching themmmmmmm. You work to pull them flat and the claws to be straight, wet them out and pin them.

I never put feet in rugs its use less, a rug is already not anatomiclly correct. Mater of fact I have never seen feet mounted on a rug.

...is the key word. I'm sure John means mounted over some sort of armature as opposed to not. I haven't heard of the feet being mounted on any rug either.

I always fill the toes of animals like bear and coyote, etc. Then I hot glue a 1/4-1/2 inch block in the base of the paw, and build the paw up with cotton fill, or batting. This gives them support for a wall hanging, and also a real nice full look...the clay helps to form the claws and sets them very nicely.
