I saw this on eBay (ends about noon today, I think). I'm not sure what type of skull it is...maybe a deformed beaver? rabbit? Any of you experts out there know?

it could be a rabbit. whatever it was, it looks like it was aborted (mis-carried) or a pregnant mother was killed, look how small it is compared to his fingers.

I bought the skull for 16.00 after it was preliminarily identified as a baby Walrus skull. I am thiking maybe there was a zoo there at some time, or maybe somewbody just dumped it. It has been sent to an osteological place( photo) for ident, and it appears to ba( possibly) a walrus. From the under side, the two holes or indents in the roof of the mouth are tusk root holes Cool!

You should have checked with JL first, he would have known. He would have saved you from yourself.

Where was the eye orbit on the one side?

Was it malformed? Or was it just the angle of the pic? I thought the upper teeth looked like they may have been some type of rodent. Hard to tell with pics, though. Young bear, huh? Never would have guessed that one!

Thanks!

I have one of those

Maybe I can get 16.50 for it too, then I will go wack off the fronts of more skulls and let squirrels gnaw on them for final effect.

Jeezy peezy people ,its the rear of some old skull found in the woods, the front and tooth areas got gnawed off by rodents and whatnot.1) theres a bullet hole it looks like, 2) nice round hole is the foramen magnum, where the spinal cord comes out.

skull ID

I agree, its the rear half of a skull, hard to tell without having the specimen here, but could be deer, could be raccoon, I do know its nothing exciting, and there are no teeth left, thats for sure whoever paid 16.50 for it got took big time!
