Secondary ear cartiladge ?

Does anyone know the function of this? The part I am refering to is the little piece of skin on the ear attatched to the inside toward the head on small game. What does this do for the animal?

but im curious to find out
its like a little pocket on the bottum
outside edge of the ear

pinna or auricle......I THINK it's called

It collects sound and directs it into the external ear. The "ear" as we call it.
