I have a black bear that a friend wants me to mount and was told it weighed approximately 375-400 lbs. When i measured the skinned out bear I stretched out the cape loosely and came up with these measurements.nose to tail 60 inches, nose to eye 5 1/4 inches and girth of 34 inches.Does the girth measurement seem correct for a375lb bear? Seems the girth would be larger but not having mounted lifesize before thought i would check with someone before ordering a form.He wants standing on two legs with arms in a relaxed manner.Any comments appreciated! thankx Pork-chop

Does your friend fish and golf as well? He's stretched his measurements slightly. I'm 73" with a 40 inch girth and I don't weigh 300 pounds. Now I'm no bear, but his ain't 400 pounds either.
Pork Chop, On bears, never order a form from measurements of a green skin- the skin is too stretchy so accurate measurments are difficult to get. You must tan the skin first, then rehydrate and stretch mostly widthwise. Then measure and order the form. Enjoy, Aaron H.
bears I took in this past year were shot by friends of mine that swore they weighed 325 and 400 lbs respectably. The bear I shot weighed 184 (field dressed) and was a inch longer than one and two inches wider than the other. Moral of the story unless they have a certified weight slip it's BULL!
Porkchop, A bear measuring 60 inches from nose to tail did not weigh that much. Most bear hunters greatly exaggerate the weight of their animals. A bear weighing 375 pounds is not very common in the first place. The bear you are describing probably weighed between 150-180lbs at the most. I would just let him believe what he wants and proceed with the mount, Mark
