.....You develop symptoms......Then you can kiss your #$% Good Bye!

Either the dog must be tested or quarantined. Or you need to take the shots.

I'll just bet a doctor could answer your questions on whether or not you have rabies. Just a quirky thought.

Old Fart...I miss you! Jeff is still trying to decide which set of antler repro's to buy from you.

Rabies

The only way that rabies can be tested on the dog is to test the brain tissue, and that means the dog has to be put down. If you are not sure, you have two options. (1)Have the dog put down and have the head sent out to be tested. Don't think just because an animal is quaranteen for 10 days that signs are going to be evident during this time period. Animals that have been tested positive for rabies have taken up to 6-8mths before they showed actual signs of rabies. (2)Get post rabies boosters. If you are in the taxidermy field, it would be an added benefit for you to have them anyway. If your not in the taxidermy field, than what are you doing on this site?...just kiddin. By the way, rabies boosters get administered in the butt now...not the stomach. It usually is a series of 4-7 shots depending on your state...the first ones go in the buttocks, and the next of the series goes in the muscle in the arm. Good luck

DW, I'm glad I don't live where you do.

I have enough things gnawing at my butt to worry about a hypodermic needle. Here, I've gotten my series of injections AND my booster as a IM injection in the arm.

The shots you are probably referring to our Pre Rabies boosters, not post. If you have ever gotten bitten or have come in contact with an animal that has rabies, you would need a series of them.

Thanx DW

You're probably right as I've never been there. Hope I don't go either. Thanx.
