How do you think he`ll score?

Well it`s been 5 years since I entered any competitions so I thought I`d jump back in the fun and games..This Lynx is finally complete except for painting the insides of his ears...The nose may appear a little red but it`s just the pictures--much more subtle without a hard light on it...

any glaring defects to any of you old timers? I know I didn`t quite slant the eyes inward enough...still kicking myself for that but I`m still open for constructive critisism..comps this weekend..

I`m really having a hard time getting clear gloss on the eyes without dust particles showing so I glossed just the eyelids and front corner of the eye...will The judge hit me on that? Man I fought the eyes for 2 hours today...Thanks

It looks pretty nice. You might get hit on the tail. It looks like it was set a little low off the back. You will get hit on the ears. They are set to high on the head. It should be only a couple points. What competition is it and who is judging. That can make a difference. The rest looks pretty good off the photo. Good luck at the cometition, report back later

It`s the KS comp...Skip Skidmore is the judge. I agree the ears may be a little high...it`s amazing what you see after you take pictures...I left the cartlidge in and placed the bottom of the butt right were they should go, but I believe the skin was just a touch to large for the manikin so I over compensated by moving the ears up and back...The tail would look alot better to you if I had a better angle of it. I think it`s fairly accurate...Stink`n comp mounts just drive me crazy...redo this then redo that---finally I just have to walk away from it...:)...fun too push it tho..the wife don`t like it getting all the attention tho...LOL....Thanks Dean...

Maybe the leading edge of the ear.

From what I can see in the pic, looks like the bootom of the ear is fine, but the top of the ear could be a little more toward the front.

Remember cats ears have a small curve at the bottom where the leading edge runs out onto the skull, kind of a flair transition.. Also the edges of cat ears a just a touch of cup in the them.

Pretty nice...

I agree with some of the critiques. I think you'll do just fine. Its a good clean looking cat, good luck.

Dang you guys are good! That flair transition your talking about was stumping me a bit---I drove my house cat crazy looking and feeling his ears---he`s still looking at me funny. I noticed when his ears are forward that the flare actually bowed forward instead of dishing into the flare..I added just a touch of flare to it but probably not enough..I`ve mounted 100`s of cats and I`d have to honestly say that ears are still a problem for me..making them thin enough to really bring them back to life is one of my biggest problems...hopefully I`ll pick up some good tips this weekend...

I feel pretty good about the nose...I used a repro nose and sanded down the front of it then used his real nose over the top of it..then just blended and smoothed the inside...the fur line around the inside edge of the nose looks as though it pulled back a bit when drying so he may hit me a bit there. This cat was raised in captivity so there were no claws---I used large bobcat claws for the dew claw but just left the rest out...not sure if he`ll hit me on that or not..

Thanks for your time guys--I appreciate it

I would say an...............................

83 or an 84 would be my guess, but what do I know, lynx don't have fins. Thats just going off what the other folks said and a few minor things I noticed. One being it looks like the cat's left ear is set lower than the right and the nose seems tweeked down a bit on the left as well.

ears

I noticed the ear too Paul---and your right on...I had to wait two weeks on the stink`n eyes to get here so I went ahead and mounted everything less tucking the lips/eyes...I set the ears without the eyes so it threw me off...but I had to get the dang thing mounted so it would be dry before the comp...lesson learned...Had I had the eyes set, it would have helped me locate the ears alot better...I`d be tickled with a red ribbon on this guy...it`s only the 3rd lynx I`ve ever mounted...

Thanks Paul
