Bryan,

Salt is a preservative and any salted skin or hide should last
indefinitely providing that the skin / hide had been properly handled before salting. Check the archives for more info. Ed.

Also to add to the above post, salted skins / hides will last indefinitely providing that they are also moth-proofed / bug-proofed, and kept in a low humidity area. The salted skins/hides may start to form bacterial growth and mold if kept in a high humidity area or if they get wet. For moth-proofing and bug-proofing,look through the supply catalogs for these chemicals. Ed.
