how do i dry out animals?

i found a dead bat and i would like to know how i would go about preserving it?

I believe in many if not all states bats are illegal to have. Does any one know for sure about this. Check with your local DNR or Fish and Wild Life. If it is legal freeze drying would be the way to go.
