My father in law just gave me a bear skin rug (with the head)that he shot in Northern Canada about 8 years ago. It's in perfect shape. He had it mounted on the wall so it was never walked on. The fur is jet black and thick and the length is 5'5" from tail to nose. I actually have several questions. What do I do with it? I have kids and pets & I'm afraid they'll ruin it. How would I store this? or How could I sell this. My wife checked on ebay and said they don't allow any bear products. Thanks for any ideas.

......Check with your state game and fish department to see if it is legal to sell in your state. In some states it is not! If legal, put an ad in a large city newspaper, simple as that.
The truth is a bear "rug" should never be walked on, so the wall is your best option if you wish to keep it in good shape. To store it. fold it up and put it in a large garbage bag with a couple moth balls.
Well as for storage goes Bill i have had a bear rug hung im my closet for 2 yrs just like you would hang. a dress from the cleaners.I just inserted a hood into the rug shell underneath the mouth doesnt hurt anything no one sees it just so it could hang on the rack and put a plastic bag over it worked well. That way legs and all hang free just put the bag over it head first and hang.
