I don't care if you people kill the wolves or not. The fact is that you hunt a beautiful wild animal down, and trade it for money, that alone is very wrong. Wolves are not animals to be captive, tamed or domesticated to live with humans. They have a complicated social life, as you should know already, and are not happy unless they live free and in packs. I will collect all of this e-mail addresses and forward them to the Green Peace, and very single wildlife foundation on the net, telling them what you do and the degrading way you people make a living. It is because of people like you sometimes I fell it is a disgrace to be part of the human race. And I want to make clear that I am not an extremist conservationist or a vegetarian, I am just a human with conscience, with morals, and someone who can tell right from wrong.

It is clear to me that you have no Idea about the goings on in Taxidermy. 95% of the animals we bring in are harvested during management hunts in oreder to keep the animal populations healthy.
People are expanding at such a rapid rate into wild life areas that the animals can not cope. If people were to just all of a suden stop huntin it would be a catastrophy.
I will admit a few hunters will shoot an amimal just for it's horns or hide and leave the meat roting in the woods. Their are plenty of places around here that take deer meat and give it to the needy so honestly their is no excuse. If I find out that a hunter has left a deer in the woods to rot I will tell them to take their deer to another taxidermist. So far I have not had to do this.
I think you need to do a little reasurch into taxidermy befor you come on here insulting us! If you give my E-mail address to green peace or any other animal loving organization I will also file suit.

It amazes me how people like you Susan can point a finger at everyone else and feel you have a clean concious when it comes to animals.The "not me"I didn't have anything to do with attitude.You have just been brainwashed by the wildlife evangelists.If greenpeace,friends of animals,and all those other organizations would study the biological facts instead of you guys kill'em and we don't syndrom.Sound healthy animal populations of any kind directly revolve around habitat.Habitat provides food,shelter from weather and predators,breeding and rearing areas etc.They tried to hunt and trap coyotes to deplete their numbers for years and where never successful in good habitat.More animal populations have declined from man's encroachment than anything.Every subdivision,every freeway,every high rise use to be some animals habitat.So you see we all take our part from them whether you pull the trigger,set a trap,or subdivide,or live in that subdivision.I'm not a extremeist for either cause either, just a conservationist and realist.

Pack your things, Buy a ticket, charter a bush pilot. And go to the Brooks Range. Make it easy on yourself, Go In the summer. spend time in the wilderness with the wolf, the grizzly, the caribou experience to world as it is. Not as you see it from your safe warn city home. then when winter comes. Return. Tell us how disgraceful we are. tell us how your friends the wolves welcomed you. what about cows,pigs,chickens - these are all taken for money,or don't they count? What do you call a farmer ? who raises beef or even hogs have you ever been to a slaughter house? So we (and me included) as a hunter and a taxidermist have to follow all kinds of laws that are made by people like yourself, who just don't understand what it takes for a taxidermist to take in such animals. there are many laws that are followed for us to do so. You are applying morals to an animal that does not live in that capacity. Hunt or be hunted, for the wolf that is their life. How do your make your degrading living? Send what you want to who you want. I don't apply my beliefs to your lifestyle, and I sleep quite well at night. How about you? Which wolf sat down and told you how he feels and asked you to speak for him?
Do yourself -and us- a favor, and research what you're speaking about(next time BEFORE you try to present your high and mighty opinions to others that DO have a well-founded, fact based stand on the subject). Respect YOURSELF enough to find out the facts before you accuse or abuse other people's sensibilities with unfounded accusations and non-sensical rhetoric. Some trappers poison wolves they say thats the only way they can get any quantity of the critter only problem with poison birds get effected and some other critters as well..It's Illegal anyway

We have very strict guidelines as to what taxidermists can & cant do & we are governed by the law.
That very same law says that it is ethical & moral to do what we do or they would not permit it.

For each animal rights nazi type I encounter,it just makes me what to trap more. I also fight to keep trapping legal and educate whenever and wherever I can.
So,for Susanna,I will engrave her name on some of my traps and she can "catch" some raccoons or foxes or something.Maybe her trap will be lucky and hold a big stinky eastern coyote, or a 5 pound buck mink.
Wolves are NOT endangered,not even threatened ( excepting red wolves and Mexican wolves, Spanish wolves and whatnot subspecies that are illegal to hunt anyway). Wolves overpopulate and get mange and lice infestations,they viciously kill sled dogs and coyotes and maybe don't even eat them. How about that wolf pack that was on that wounded moose for days,I think last months National Geographic had an article on it. What about that moose, wasn't it suffering?
In some ways a wolf is just a big overglorified coyote,smart and beautiful furred,but just as vicious as any coyote pack going after a calf that is still being birthed. Wolves hamstring moose,then let them linger for days before closing in for the kill. Wolves will kill more than they can eat when prey is plentiful. They can deplete their prey base, then the wolves can starve as a result. They often starve in harsh winters as it is.There is nothing pretty and plush about the harsh realities in nature.

kills more animals of every specie then all the hunters in the world combined. With urban sprawl you are destroying the animals habitat to live and reproduce. I guess you do live in a house or apartment right? What do you think was there before they build that building you live in?
Hunters on the other hand have contributed millions and millions of dollars by buying hunting licenses and tags/permits which is being spend on buying land for animal habitation. A hunters interest is to keep the species flourishing so we can enjoy hunting them for generations to come. We actually look out for the species. Thanks to hunters the wild turkey made a big comeback and so did the elk, bear, cougar, deer etc.
Do not also mistake us for the people that kill animals illegally. Those people are not hunters but poachers. There is a big difference. Cars(which are driven by ordinary people like yourself) kill more animals then all hunters combined. Just look at the side of the road, any road. Those dead animals weren't killed by hunters but by drivers like you. So who is doing the unnecessary killing here?

Susana if you have never eaten any meat, worn any leather shoes, put on a leather belt, squashed a mosquito sucking your blood than you can complain. But odds are at some point in your life you have. most of the other people on this site have stated the rules and regs that we have to follow in order to not get a ticket and put in jail. if you really want to make a home for these creatures than bay thousands of acres and invite all the wolves you please do not degrade what we do for a living or as our hobby. it is our choice and we follow all guidelines as not to disrupt our future opportunities in the trapping and hunting world.

on a trip to Alaska last year. 338 magnum right through the chest at 15 yards. What a bute, weighed close to 150 pounds with good fur. Also found five moose kills, and didn't see a singal moose. I quess I should have killed the bastard sooner and saved all those poor little moose. Ron

If you didn't consider wolves to be beautiful, would you think it's ok to hunt them? Or do you consider all animals beautiful, and feel ashamed to be a part of the ugly human race? Wild animals kill too, and often times not just for food. African lions taking over a new territory will kill existing cubs so that the lionesses will come back into heat. Then the new lions can father new cubs. Coyotes can and will kill domestic dogs and cats. Bears have attacked, without provocation, and killed people in their own yards.
People have hunted animals for food and fur from the beginning. Times have changed, and yes; it is possible to survive without obtaining fur from animals. However, with decreasing undisturbed wild space left, it truly is in the best interest of both humans and animals to manage populations--to prevent starvation and diseases from getting out of hand. It's just my opinion, but I think starvation and ravaging diseases can be pretty harsh and cruel to wild animals. More harsh and cruel than trapping and hunting.
You claim to know that wolves "are not happy unless they live free and in packs." How would anyone know this? And why do people apply human emotions to animals? Are you sure you understand the difference between right and wrong?
Bet youve never even seen a coyote, Except maybe for the zoo. Ya cant detach yourself from nature and you cant put yourself above those whove accepted their roles as gatherers and as human beings intimately involved in the cycle of life. (and by the way, the wolf isnt domesticated or captured, its trapped and shot. humanely.) besides, have you ever been to a plastic moulding plant? Worst thing for the environment ive ever seen. black smoke and a virtual holocaust of harmful chemicals to any wildlife. "Pleather" and fake furs are all plastic based and made through processes with similar or equal effects to the environment. Hell, im 14 and ive come to realize all these things. In short, i respect your opinion, but please dont harass us about our lifestyles. This forum is a haven to taxidermists, hunters fishermen, and trappers, and your slandering us. Leave us alone.
