A friend of mine in another state found a white squirrel and wants me to mount it. It is illegal in my state to possess one. Can I still mount the squirrel for him in my state, then send it back to him in his state or is that illegal too?

You're going to have to contact your DNR in your state and ask them. I know theres a park somewhere in Illinios, that has about 90% of the squirrels are white. Not albino, but what is called leucistic. They're all white except they don't have the pink eyes or nose. And they are protected there.

If you can hunt grey squirrels then you can have that squirrel. It is just a color phase grey squirrel. Just like a color phase black bear. so i would say yes.
I don't think your right. We have abino deer here in Michigan, and it's just a whitetail deer. But albino deer in Michigan are protected. Even if it's not a true albino, but the leucistic phase, they are still protected. Besides it isn't going to hurt for Dawn to make sure and call the appropriate people to make sure.

Thanks Coyote & Lee for your input. I will call the Ohio DNR (state where it's from)and the Illinois DNR as advised by you. Better safe than sorry!
In illinois it is illegal to kill/possess albino squirrels as well as deer. Not sure About Ohio haven't lived there in 20 years.
