School teacher with a stuffed beaver needs help

I am an elementary school teacher who has just had a parent donate a stuffed beaver to our school (it's our mascot.) I would like to set up a display in the front of the school in one of the glass cases but want to make it look as real as possible (a la a museum.) Does anyone have suggestions for me or tell me where I could look to get help. Thank you in advance.

so you're looking for ideas?

What you are referring to is habitat. One big help for us would be if we knew what position the beaver is in. That way we could get some ideas. Otherwise you could always go to some of the online suppliers and they have real and artificial habitat materials such as driftwood, grass, cattails, even fake water. If you had some limbs tha an actual beaver had chewed on that might be a start too. It all depends on what you want the beaver to "say" and how much room you have to work with.

Good Luck :)

The beaver is in a sitting position and it is gnawing on a branch that is "held" in its hands. Hope this helps...

Also the beaver has a rather noxious odor. Can anyone suggest something to lessen or expel it? This is not a terrible problem because the beaver will be in a glass "trophy" case and not out in the open.

Thank you.

get the kids involved

You are asking a creative question and kids are the most creative animals on earth. It would also be a great learning experiance for them.Have them research beavers and compete to see who can come up with the most realistic scene for the display.I'm sure a taxidermist in your area would be more than happy to help with a water scene or finding supplies.
