What are you trying to trap? They work great for beaver, muskrat and coons.

unless you can check your traps everyday preferrably in the morning then don't use footholds. Conibears are great for people who can't guarantee they will check their traps everyday. It kills quickly and humanely. The only time a foothold trap is inhumane is if you leave a critter in it for an extended period of time. But live traps can be inhumane if you leave something in it too long.

Be very careful about conibears though because a 220 can easily break your hand. And if you catch your neighbors dog in a conibear you usually don't just set it free with a little limp.

You ain't gonna catch many yotes or foxes in conibears.

Conibears are very effective. As long as you match size to the species of animal. I once had to catch a dog that was reeking havoc in the neighborhood with cattle, cats, dogs, other property. I used a 220 and this mean mutt was the size of a small saint bernard, and it was frozen by the next morning so it had benn killed quickly.

110= muskrat, mink
220= coons, small beavers
330= beavers, larger coons

The best thing for fox and yotes is a foothold.

Coons

Best set for coons (if legal in your area) is a 5 gallon bucket with a 220 set over the front. Cut slots in the side of the bucket and slide the springs into the slots, this will hold the trap. Then run stout sticks threw the hole in the springs and stick them in the dirt to further hold the trap. In the back of the bucket use bait like apples and mollases, or good coon lure ete. Set this along well traveled areas by coons and you will clean up.

For beavers just take a 330 and set it on the slides of their damns or in the channels leading out of the pond to where they feed. GOOD LUCK!
