What are some good plants to use for mink habitat?

since the mink resides mainly up north maybe you should study the vegetation up in those parts of the country. I believe pine, juniper or spruce all would be a very suitable choices to go with a mink habitat. You can preserve it with never say die or any other plant preserve product.
Mink are largely shoreline predators.... very aquatic. They hunt around shorelines and riverbanks as well as terrestrial environments. Speckled alder is a prime choice for woody stems as it is a shoreline stabilizer, then add some herbacaeous plant material. Get a good book on plants and it should break it up by habitat... simply look for stream bank plants and you'll be good to go. White Cedar is another good choice.
Mink love grassy stream banks and catch a lot of mice and frogs there.Grassy streams also provide feed for trout and other fish that mink like.Don't forget cattails. They also love to hunt in the cattails and find a lot of prey in these areas too.Muskrats are one of there favorite prey animals. You should be able to find some really nice looking artificial cattails and with some fancy water-resin work,I bet you could come up with something really nice.Sounds like a fun project. Good luck with it.
