I'm going to be doing a newborn fawn for competition, and have a few questions.
What's the best option for the ears, are there any competition quality earliners available for a tiny fawn?
And when skinning, is it possible to tube out the head or must a relief cut be made? I'd rather not make a cut if avoidable, but I tried to tube it and that doesn't seem like it's going to work.
If anyone can help me with these questions or if you have any other good tips for fawns, I'd appreciate it!

well i did a fawn for our state show last year. i used ear liners from i believe it was vanhousen..and they are good to start with..then you will have to fine tune to fit yours...but if i had to do over i would cast the ear. i did a dorsal cut on the one i did and had to split it pretty much the whole way up to the back of the head. hope this helps..
I posted my entire method some while back. I'd NEVER cut a fawn where a seam could possibly be seen. It takes a little effort, but that head WILL tube out. YOu have to cut one ear butt off at a time and once the ear butt is severed, you'll be able to take it over the top. To put it back together, I cut the head of as a wedge from the throat to the back of the skull, I mount the face and then insert the neck up the tube. The wedge then "snaps" into alignment held in place by some 6 hour epoxy.
I remember years ago trying to tube out my first doe. The neck was so small i thought it was impossible to get it past the ears. Do as George said, cut one ear butt off at a time, working slowly and it will finally stretch over that head. good luck
