Squirrel Mounting

On a squirrel when making the incision for mounting one climbing a tree, does the incision go from the tail along the belly to mid neck or do you stop it at the chest? This should be the only cut on the whole animal correct? Thank you guys for all the help.

Incisions

Brad, make your cut starting from the ribcage area all the way down to the genitals, and STOP there. Don't cut through them. Do not go past the ribcage. If you get up into the neck, the hair gets shorter and your stitches will start to show. Proceed to skin the squirrel out as usual. This will be the only cut. Case skin the tail by stripping it off with a clothespin (not the spring loaded ones).

You could also case skin the squirrel (cut from heel to heel) and it might slide over the mannikin easier, depending on the pose of the mount.

Goodluck!

If possible Brad, I do all my lifesize w/ a dorsal incision. A whole lot less headaches getting the hide on form and sewing. And if done right, you can't see the stitches. There may be some that disagree w/ me.

First thank you both for the help! I need to know do you put the body on the body I built then attach the skull? Lets make it easier I made my own form out of excelsior and wondered what the steps were for putting it on the body I made? Any help again would be greatly appreciated.
