I have an old leopard skin rug that is a family heirloom. Because it is over a hundred years old, its started to tear. The head is pulling away from the rest of the body and the tears have been getting worse and I want to fix that.
I also have a dog, so the skin is in the close. Is there anyway I could turn it into a wall hanging.
If you could recommend a way to fix it and hang it, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

Kate, You have a fragile old skin that will be a challenge to fix but I have the opinion that almost everything can be fixed. The skin will have to be backed with a new sturdy backing, rips repaired and then once complete you will have to be careful with it as the weakened leather will still be fragile. I just did a very old zebra rug repair job in similar condition. I was able to salvage the skin but it's longterm value will depend on the owner's care. Most taxidermists that do rug work could help you with this- if you are in NC email me-Aaron H.
Thanks! Is there any website or company that you could recommend that would help and supply me?
