Is it possible to recreate the inner ear of an animal if the real inner ear is missing? And if so, is it possible for it to look "competition quality"?
I was given a lifesize coyote skin from a generous man on these forums (thank you!). This coyote has a beautiful red color, is the right size for the form I want to use, and it just perfect in every way -- EXCEPT for the inner ear detail has been cut out. I was planning on using this coyote for a world show competition piece and was just wondering if there is any way around this. There is no hair in the inner ear, so would it be possible to sculpt in the detail (say, with apoxie sculpt) and paint it? I've often wondered if this would be a better idea overall since the real inner ear detail in my mammals usually ends up shrinking and getting a point taken off. It's so hard to give it that plump, living look.
I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether this would be possible to still turn this into a competition piece, or if I really should get a different coyote :(
Thanks,
Amy Ritchie

Ozark Woods has some very detailed earliners, I know there are some others on the market.
Yes you can rebuild them with epoxy and reference to guide you.
Amy,
Check out your Research catalog. Near the front of the book there are earliners, the ones you want are the 3D earliners. They come with all the inner ear detail and are perfect for competition. Good luck! I'm also bringing a lifesize coyote to the World show! See you there!
I always have a back-up animal for ear casting. If you can find a junk coyote head use that to cast your ear interiors.Good luck!
Your grizzly bear has a new base and home.It looks good, nice job.
Get an extra coyote and slip cast the inner ear.
