Can someone who does alot of small mammal rugs help me out here?
I'm doing a grey fox rug, it's my first rug I've ever done. I've tanned the hide and mounted the head and everything looks great. I'm just confused as to how to do the felt and liner. I couldn't seem to find what I was looking for in the archives, can anyone help me?
Thanks!

Spray the leather side of the fox with 3M spray glue and use quilt ticking. Lay a layer of the polyfill quilt ticking on the glued hide. Carefully cut away excess to within about 1/2 inch of the edge of the leather side. Spray the glue on the quilt ticking and affix a large square of felt in the color you desire over the hide. Now carefully cut away the excess again. With a whip stitch, roll the edge of the fox hide over and sew all around the hide. When complete, then take a piece of hem marking chalk and mark dots for the corners of 3-4 inch squares on the back side of the felt. With your needle, pull a thread through the felt, filler, hide then hide, filler, felt. Tie this thread off as a "quilt tack stitch" to keep the 3 from disbonding to each other. If you're planning on using a fringe under the fur, place it under the backing felt and carefully stitch with a hem stitch instead of a whip stitch.
I really appreciate the info, it helps out alot. Although I went to Walmart today to get some materials I needed, and they wouldn't let me get the 3M spray. It appears that Walmart now has a law that won't let anyone under 18 buy adhesives, paints, etc. I couldn't even buy some super glue ! Lol Ah well... Thank you for the help !

I'm telling you, the PC crowd is ruining the world. All teens are guilty of huffing according to Wally World I guess.
Try Lowes, Amy. The 3M stuff seems to just work a lot better than the other spray glues, especially the "craft" glues.
