a friend gave me a coyote today. has bullet hole w/ quite a bit of blood on the fur. normally i wouldn't mess with this but the color was awsome. my question is should i wash this coyote in soap & water then dry & salt dry or should i just salt dry & send to tannery. thanks in advance for any help.

just salt it, salt the hair side where it is real bloody, i usually rub the salt into the blody hair good.

i mount a lot of coyotes and a lot of them have blood in the fur - i split e'thing and throw it in the krowtann - when it IS DONE TANNNING i wash it out and clean the blood off of the fur - most of it has already come out in the tan
