rehydrating bear

Do I use water, fabric sofener and basacryl nb-ku? Then I soak the paws and follow by sponging the hide and baging, refirgerating overnight?

You didn't say what you were doing with this hide but I'll go on the assumption that you're doing a lifesize mount or a half mount. You should have recieved instructions from the tannery on their reccomendations on rehydrating but I suppose if you bought it already tanned from someone else probably not.Generally for a mount and not a rug I soak the hide in enough water to submerge it with a handful of salt added for about 20 minutes.Remove from water and drain for a few minutes, put in a plastic bag and sweat overnight somwhere cool.

The bear will be lifesize

The customer had it tanned in Canada and there arent any instructions. The hide seems alittle thicker then normal I think (first bear). Maybe the annery just thought he wanted to hang it on the wall. I can hand thin the face and should be able to mount this skin right? The hide is probably 1/8 inch thick in most areas from the head back. Should I contact the tannery to make sure my hydration solution is compatable with the tann they use?

Should be fine

You can contact the tannery if you know who they are, they know more about rehydrating their tan. There shouldn't be any problem with mounting but if you feel some areas are to thick you can always thin some after you get it rehydrated.

Thanks
