What are my options if my taxidermist will not finish my bear rug(30 months). He will not return my call. The few times I have talked to him he guarantees me it will be done next month,of coarse this goes back a year.

Have him show you the tanned hide (if he has it). Take it to another reputable taxidermist. If he can't prove that he has the bear hide, sue his ***!. I would be willing to bet he does not have your bear hide.
his game warden and ask him to talk to the taxidermist. Game animals are the property of the the state. That is why you have to have a state lic. to hunt them. The state, depending on where you are from, lic. the taxidermist and so have a part in regulating them and the game animals in thier shops. If this does not work, send him a registered returned reciept letter explaining your position and possible other actions, be nice, consider what or why he might be this far behind that you are unaware of. Also consider paying for whats done so far and picking up you're bear as is and taking it somewhere else to be completed.
I am beyond frustrated(this is my first bear)he will not return my calls.what is the first thing you would do?I have had several conversations with him over the coarse of the last year.I figured out he was telling me what I wanted to hear,so the talking is over.
If I am able to get through what would you say?
Also, what is the best way to get their attention?can I go after him through his license?
HELP!
I'd be at his door first thing in the morning. Forget the phone, talk to him in person and get your bear then. If that doesn't work then take legal action. Just don't punch him when you see him in person or he'll be taking the legal action. Good Luck. BP
you may also want to have a deputy accompanying you. It is just amazing how much more people cooperate if the arm of the law is present. Plus you would have a reputable witness.
Do you have pictures of your bearhunt? Do you have a receipt from the taxidermist about a deposit or any money you paid upfront for getting the bear rugged? Do you still have your bear tags and hunting license from that hunt? Did someone, a buddy or your wife, come with you when you dropped the bear of with that guys? Have all YOUR evidence ready and in hand come visiting time.
You can charge the taxidermist with theft if he doesn't hand you back the bear hide.
We had a similiar problem around where I live. It took a $75 dollar letter from the attorney. 2 hours later we were at his door picking up our elk. unfinished, but we had it back. The attorney is now selling the letter to all the other guys that are having the same problem and it is working like a charm. Fish and game said they could not do anything because he had no gauranteed date of delivery. Good luck
I really appreciate all your help.I think I am going to go the registered return receipt route.I still have the tag&lic.also the mortality report that Idaho required which they gave a number and all this is written on the form. However,I cannot find the receipt for the half down but I do have the cancelled check.
Yes,I also have pictures and I dropped it off with a friend.
He lives 6hrs away,so its hard to show up at his front door which I tried in sept.which was prearranged.
Any suggestions on the letter?I plan on giving him a date to have it done or we will go to the next step.
By the way,are they required to put the metal tag# that the state of Idaho gave me when I reported the harvest?I left it with him,he said it stays with the hide.I also planned on checking the # with my form that I saved.
Are you slow to anger or what?I would've filed in small claims court long ago....
