freezing squirrels

i have 2 squirrels that have been in a freezer since spring. how much longer can they stay in there before they can't be skinned. please give me any advice you have on anything else that might be tricky. i have never skinned or mounted anything before. thanks.

Were they wrapped? Toes, tail and ears are the first to succumb to freezer burn. The lips too can be hard to split. All depends on how they were packaged.

they were wrapped in moist paper towels and placed in a trash bag. do you have any more suggestions in the mounting process?

..and if you have any freezerburn problems you can always try to rehydrate them (toes etc..) with injecting them by small needle filled with water. Then skin them with usual manner and tan hides. Then just mount the critters!
