I have had the hardest time trying to find the correct looking paint for bobcat and Mt. Lion noses. Can anyone help me with the exact colors or mixes?

I use oil based paints - burnt umber, black and titanium white - I thin them in laquer and use an air brush. Start with the umber and add small amount of black and just a little white. Experiment and use reference til you get the color you want.

looking to Jonas for the color your looking for. They make what is called cat nose. I use it for a base coat and then use some burnt umber thinned downed with clear and retarder to highlight and give some depth.

look at some reference photos and a bobcats nose is not brown or black I see so many taxidermists paint the nose brown or black and that is dead wrong it should be a reddish-pinkish color,i mix my paint too achieve the right color, get a good reference photo and a glass paint bottle and go to mixing different colors untill you achieve the color that works for you.

I paint the whole nose black...let it dry then mix flesh/burnt sienna..no two bobcat noses are the same color...some are darker and some are lighter...never black or brown as mentioned above..more of a fleshy/redish color...
