Needle and Thread for coon mount

Hi all-

Will be doing my first raccoon mount soon and wondering what size/type of needle and thread you use to sew up the back once on the form.

I use a size 4 glover's needle and standard sewing cotton/poly thread, doubled. That's for any super thick or tough-to-pull skin.

I use the same thing on ermine, but not doubled, and lots more stitches per inch.

Results are great.
