Other border options? (Bear-skin rug)

Any other options out there for bordering a black bear rug other than double-felt. Every rug that I've seen uses scalloped double felt and it's kind of "tacky" IMHO. Anyone insight or pics are appreciated-thanks!

Simply bind the edge

I agree with you that most double fringe tends to remind me of proverbial French salons with ladies of questionable character. I cut the edge for symmetry and then bind the edge with a black one inch bias binding sold in all fabric shops. When I'm having them contracted out, I request the same process.

You may disagree with certain types of rug borders but please don't disparage ladies of questionable character.

Thanks for the reply-good idea. I had been leaning towards suede.
