I'm in a sticky spot here. I have a mink mannikin that I've done extensive allterations to. I tried to install a jawset but it went pretty crappy. I pretty much ruined the head trying to fit this in. I need a new head. But where can I get one? I was going to cast the head but it was a roadkill. I don't know of any companies that sell just the head and I'm not going to buy another mannikin. Can any body offer any suggestions? I don't know the dimmensions offhand but I'll post them later if anyone can help.BTW...I ca't carve very well so I'd prefer to just buy one.

Even a cheap one will probably do.....$16-$20 bucks. We usually keep the head and carcass of small mammals for reference or molding until the job is finished. If you had the head, you could cast one in alginate and pour with bondo/resin. Block the mouth open as you wish, and then freeze the head. Use foam for the block and remove it prior to molding in the alginate. inished head will need a little build back to replace fascia and some lost tissue, but the mouth will just need the core reamed out to allow for fitting of the jawset.

If you elect that course, bore a hole in the rear of the hear for a wire. Glue in wire with CA and then fit to the foam mannikin and glue in with epoxy. Sculpt out the gap and detail with the plastic putty of your choice. Mill the eye sockets and set eyes as you would on any form.
