grey fox fit

I am mounting a full grey fox with a full sweep head rotation. I used a dorsal cut and I started sewing from the tail up. everything fit perfect until i got to the turn in the neck, i'm coming up short, the hide will not reach to close, and I have an extra flap of skin on the inside of the turn.

Should I try and stretch it to close and just cut out the extra flap?

thanks alot!

Pull the "flap" to get the slack to close the seam? Did you measure the neck prior to mounting the skin? If it is the correct size, that skin has to be in there somewhere.....probably something wrong with the mannikin's proportions, but that loose skin can probably be worked up, or you have to back to basics and take some off the form.

Billy, This sounds like the problem is under the legs-the "armpit" area. Did you slot the form? If not the skin is binding there and probably will not stretch enough to close the neck. I'm sure you don't want to hear this now but sounds like you will have to remove the skin to make this adjustment. If you do, I would suggest starting your sewing at the front end first anyway, if this problem was happening at the rear you would be able to cut the body in half and remove only the rear to adjust. Good luck, Aaron H.
