Dried Deer Skin

I am brain tanning a large deer hide. Two days ago it was almost done, I put it on a frame and put it near a stove inside my nieghbors shed. It was partially frozen and the room was cold, so I expected for it to take a while to start drying. I was wrong and when I checked it later that day it had dried hard before I had a chance to strech and scrape it. What do I do now? It has been suggested to me that I should ether take it off the frame then brain it again and put it back on or to rehydrate it while on the frame. I would like to not have to take it off of the frame and then put it back on, but I am willing to do what I have too to make this skin turn out right. I am a beginner and would realy appreciate any advice. Thanks, Taylor.

This man brain tans everything he touches, check his site out, he has written a small book on brain tanning. He is an outdoor traditionalist, and nice guy also. I know he can and will help you out.

Thanks
