After i tan my critters coyote's,raccoon ect is it better to shampoo them before i freeze them or after i thaw them out when i'am ready to mount them.Any info would be nice.Thanks

Someone else would answer this. Freeze it. You shampoo yer hair, you WASH a hide. After tanning, there is no need to do anything but freeze....Well, unless you wold like to blow dry and stroke it for a while....heh, heh!

Nick, What I do is tan, mount, let dry THEN shampoo the whole mount and blow dry. Sounds crazy if you've never done it but I think it's the very best way of all. Most all skins get a little oil in the hair when tanning. This affects how the hair dries and critters like bobcats especially look scruffy after mounting. Brushing them out makes it better but put that cat in the tub and lather it up good and rinse well and you will see a noticable improvement. Naturally this will require more drying time but the shine and body of the fur is well worth the extra effort. All finish work is done after the final dry time. Enjoy, Aaron H.
