I just caught a blond muskrat. It does not have pink eyes. Is this a normal or is it a color varience that is normal? I am guessing it is not a true albino. The eyes are brown. The tips of the hairs are blonde and very white underneath. This is a beautiful rat. I am wondering what something like this might be worth. Does anyone know? Or has anyone seen these before?

...muskrat with a different kind of color phase....that doesn't have enough color pigments to appear normally-colored, yet doesn't lack enough pigments to be a true albino.
I would think this is pretty rare. You could probably get a good price for it selling it to a taxidermist for mounting.
This is a beautiful rat. I have never seen one like it. It is probably from this years litter. I would sell it for $80 to you if you want it. Otherwise, I will post it. Send your zip code to me and I can get you a shipping price. I am a taxidermist myself. I have already tube skinned it. The only cut is from rear foot to rear foot. The tail is split also. The feet are skinned to the front toes. If you want, I can salt it or send it rolled, frozen and insulated.
I did have a slight problem when "tube-ing) one of the front feet. Those critters have skin like a rabbit. The foot pulled through. I have already sewn it back on properly. If you don't like the sew job, you can cut the thread and re-sew it. Please let me know. I accept pay pal, money order or check.
