as one that is starting off in taxidermy would it be a good idea to use a degreaser on all my birds after fleshing just to make sure i do not get any bleed through of grease after mounting. also could i use it on deer hides and other mammals. if so do i soak the hole hide in it or just wipe it on the fleshed side. thanks for any assistance.

There are plenty of degreasers out there. What you need to do is search for a specific one that would degrease what ever you wish it to. I don't do birds yet but I think all you need on them is dawn dish soap. Maybe a good washing in some denatured alcohol or something like that.
